Courses and STEM+ Certification

 

At West Hill C.I. we believe that all students should have access to enrichment opportunities through STEM and the opportunity to develop 21st century skills that are vital for success both in school and in the wider community.

Our unique STEM+ certification makes this learning accessible to all at West Hill C.I.

Program of Study: Required Courses in Grades 9 to 12

  • STEM+ COURSES IN GRADE 9

    English, Math, Science and Entrepreneurship or Integrated Arts

  • STEM+ COURSES IN GRADE 10

    English, Math, Science and Engineering Design-Thinking

  • STEM+ COURSES IN GRADE 11

    One of Genocide, Community Leadership, Forces of Nature Health Leadership or Co-Op; and any business/coop, science, technology, arts credit

  • STEM+ COURSES IN GRADE 12

    Interdisciplinary Course: Environmental, Social and Governance Leadership

Certification

Student must also complete the following requirements to be eligible for Copper, Silver, Gold or Platinum STEM+Certification:
  • SILVER CERTIFICATION

    40 hours of community involvement and participation in at least one STEM+ Project

  • GOLD CERTIFICATION

    40+ hours of community involvement, participation in at least 2 STEM+ Projects and 1 year of service in a leadership, mentorship or peer support role.

  • PLATINUM CERTIFICATION

    40+ hours of community involvement, participation in at least 3 STEM+ Projects and 2 years of service in a leadership, mentorship or peer support role.
